Born in 1926, David Jones was brought up on a farm in the South Wales valleys and was educated at Pontypridd Grammar School and Harper Adams Agricultural College in Shropshire. He later was commissioned into the Welch Regiment and served in the Bihar regiment in the Indian Army before returning to farming near Whitland. Former Pembroke Dock Mayor in 1993-94 and 1997-98. He was also past Chairman of the Pembroke Dock Civic Society and past chairman of the Arts Club and some years back was Chairman of the Carmarthenshire Grassland Society. Hobbies include, rugby (mainly watching - not much playing these days!!!); gardening, natural history and all civic affairs. He also enjoys being a member of Pembroke Dock Creative Writers group and has been published in Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire Life, Carmarthen History, Cambrensis, Western Telegraph and Wales On Sunday
